Pioneer Kids Week is Storrowton Village Museum’s new April school vacation program for ages 7-12. Kids will get to explore New England’s pioneer past and connect it to the present through fun hands-on lessons, activities and games.
The week will feature themed days and fun, educational activities. Science will come alive in the blacksmith shop. Math skills will be emphasized on a geometry walk through the Village and while doing some 19th century shopping in the Potter General Store. Imagination will be encouraged during activities such as working with clay, printmaking and creative writing.
Special homesteading activities will teach about the lives of pioneer children in the 1800s, such as cooking, butter churning, candle dipping, seed planting, spinning and weaving and soap making.
Pioneer Kids Week has a parent-friendly schedule, running from 8:30am to 4:30pm with an extended day option from 4:30pm to 5:30pm.
