Homeschool Program FAQ
I have kids who are older/younger, can they participate?
Yes, children outside our target age range (6-12) can participate if you feel this will be of interest to them. We do not recommend the program for children under 5 unless they have advanced fine motor skills. Much of our programming can be tailored to teens.
How much does the program cost?
We have a a few choices to help meet the needs of your family - One adult & one child - $51.75; two adults & two children - $92; additional child - $17.25
What does the money for this program go toward?
Your cost to participate covers the cost of admission for you and your children to the Big E (admission tickets are $20 for adults, $12 for children at the gate), supplies for activities (supplies cost approximately $10-$15 per person), covers admission to Family Camp Day ($5 per person), additional costs not itemized - staffing, material prep, wear and tear to buildings. We do not earn any money off of charging for this program as the charge for your group does not exceed the cost to produce the program. We are a not-for-profit organization with an educational mission. Should there be any revenue from this program it would be returned to our educational programming in Storrowton Village Museum and Agricultural Programming that occurs at ESE all year round.
Are there any additional fees?
We charge a $1 service fee for payments through our website. This small fee helps our museum have the ability to host online admission and payments.
What if I can't come to the Big E on the date I select?
Your Big E tickets are good for any day of the fair, so they can be used on any day of this year's fair. If you've scheduled your activity day during the fair, we cannot reschedule, however we'd be happy to postpone it until after the Big E in October.
Are the buildings in Storrowton Village wheelchair accessible?
Due to the historic nature of our buildings, they are not all wheelchair accessible. If you are bringing a participant in a wheelchair or with other mobility needs, please let us know and we will ensure that all activities are conducted in accessible areas.
How does bussing/transportation to the fair work?
Parking for any passenger car or van is located in our public lot at Gate 9 for $10 per vehicle. These groups can enter through Gate 9A. Transportation is not provided by the Eastern States Exposition.
What safety and support services are available at the fair?
We take significant pride in our Public Safety and Security team that is on-site during the fair. In addition to our year-round safety team, we also have local and state police, West Springfield Fire and a multitude of other support resources from all over New England. Additionally, the Big E has a Lost People Center and First Aid station staffed by nurses and professionals who can reunite parties and assist in the case of an emergency.
