Ghost Tours FAQ
Do I have to pay for parking?
Parking is free for all Storrowton Village Museum programs. Please pull in to Gate 1 and let the security guard know you’re going to the Museum and they’ll wave you through. Parking is located on the Avenue of States.
What time should I arrive?
Please arrive at the Union Meeting House (white church) 5-10 minutes before the program start time. We recommend using the restroom prior to your tour so you don’t miss out on any of the evening; restrooms are located in the green building behind the Phillips House (red building). If you’re dining at the Tavern prior to your tour, having a reservation no later than 5pm is recommended.
Will I be in a group with my friends?
If you purchased tickets together, you will be together! We divide groups based on the last name on your reservation, but groups rotations are simply a recommendation. You can join a different groups at any point in your tour.
How do Ghost Tours work?
Ghost Tours are self-lead and you will be given a booklet that helps you navigate the Village. We start the tour with a brief introduction in the Union Meeting House. Guides are stationed in each building who will share stories of the buildings and paranormal activity with you. You’ll also have the opportunity to watch our short film giving you background on the museum and investigations. Please wear comfortable footwear and bring water in a tightly sealed container if needed. Bundling up on chilly evenings is recommended. The Ghost Tour will occur rain or shine. Due to the historic nature of our buildings, the tour is not fully wheelchair accessible.
Will I see ghosts or have a paranormal experience?
We always make sure our tours are a balance between history and stories of the unexplained. We have had tours where we have heard unexplained noises and where visitors who are sensitive have noted the presence of spirits. So while we can’t promise you will have a paranormal experience, we also can’t promise you won’t! For those interested you are welcome to take pictures and use Ghost Hunting smart phone apps as long as it does not cause disruption to the guide or group.
What if I can no longer attend?
While we do not offer refunds, we will honor your purchase as a credit toward admission to any program through the 12 months following your scheduled date (i.e. if you scheduled a tour in October 2025, your credit would be good through October 2026) as long as we are notified in advance. You must contact us a minimum of 48 hours prior to the start of your scheduled tour in order to receive this credit.
What happens if there is inclement weather?
Our tours happen rain or shine! While most of our tour is indoors, you will need to travel between buildings. In the event of a weather emergency we will cancel the tour and contact you via email to notify of the change. If an event is canceled due to weather you will have the option to receive a refund or credit toward future event.
How long is the tour?
This tour takes you through six historic buildings and also allows time to view a 17-minute video of our history and overview of our investigations. Most people stay for at least 90 minutes while others prefer to utilize the full two hours of the program.
Is ghost hunting equipment permitted?
Small handheld devices that do not interfere with the experience of any other visitors is permitted. Cell phone ghost hunting apps and photography is also permitted. Please no video recording.
Is the museum wheelchair accessible?
Due to the historic nature of our buildings, most of them are not wheelchair accessible. Most buildings require the ability to walk up stairs. If you have a mobility concern and would like to go on a Ghost Tour, please give us a call at 413.205.5051. We'd be happy to talk with you about whether or not this tour fits your mobility needs.
Can kids go on Ghost Tours?
We recommend Ghost Tours for ages 12+ except when otherwise specified for family-friendly tours. Younger children have attended our Ghost Tours at the discretion of their parent/guardian. Spirits of Christmas Past discusses Santa and his magical history; children who feel deeply connected to the magic of Christmas and Santa's role in their Christmas experience should NOT attend.
